Responsibility

At Baunelin, responsibility and quality go hand in hand. We are committed to creating timeless products with a focus on sustainability, people, and the environment — all without compromising on craftsmanship or style.

Materials & Products

Our sunglasses are made from durable materials designed for long-term use. All plastic frames are crafted from polycarbonate, with a significant portion coming from recycled materials, giving new life to existing resources. Our metal frames are nickel-free and finished with a special coating that provides shine and durability while ensuring compliance with strict nickel regulations.

We use only polycarbonate lenses, never acrylic, to guarantee impact resistance and safety. Every pair undergoes the recognized drop-ball test to meet the highest standards, ensuring both durability and protection.

Our Eco Collection

We are proud to introduce our Eco Collection, featuring sunglasses with frames and/or lenses made from 100% recycled materials. The frames are crafted from rPCTG (recycled polyester from food containers and bottles), while the lenses are made from rPMMA-L (recycled plastic sourced from optical displays and lenses).

Due to technical limitations, not every shape, frame color, or lens color can currently be made from recycled materials — but we continuously strive to expand this line responsibly.

Ethical Production

Our sunglasses are produced in BSCI-certified factories in China, ensuring safe working conditions, fair wages, and no child labor. We maintain close relationships with our factories and perform regular quality checks to guarantee that every product meets both CE (Europe) and FDA (US) standards.

With offices in both the Netherlands and China, we oversee styling, quality audits, and ensure responsible production at every step.

UV Protection

All Baunelin sunglasses come with 100% UV400 protection, matching the level of premium eyewear brands. Most of our models feature Category 3 lenses, ideal for strong sunlight. For lighter-colored lenses, you will find Category 2 lenses, which still offer full UV protection while maintaining lighter tints.
